our approach to working with teens
Each therapist uses different modalities to assist teens in understanding their own mental health. The therapist will first work to build rapport with the teen to facilitate growth. Parents are involved in the treatment of their teen as appropriate. A sample of modalities used:

Common questions about therapy for teens

Parents are encouraged to be involved in counseling. At the age of 14, teens are able to access counseling and are afforded confidentiality. Parents will always be informed if there are unsafe behaviors that are happening or any mention of self harm or suicidal thoughts.

The first session will need to include at least one parent or guardian. The subsequent sessions will be attended by the teen only. The parent is encouraged to schedule sessions with the therapist to discuss any concerns or be updated on treatment.
