Heather Carey, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Bend Office

Heather is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a deep commitment to supporting individuals, families, and communities in overcoming life’s challenges and building resilience. Before entering the field of social work, Heather worked in the outdoor milieu with adolescents as a recreation guide, mentor, and advocate. Her meaningful conversations with young people during this time sparked her passion for pursuing higher education and a career in mental health. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Florida State University and continued her work in community mental health, supporting youth, adults, and families.

Heather believes that healing and growth stem from gaining the information and perspective needed to create balance, self-efficacy, and strength in the face of adversity. She aligns with research that emphasizes how early childhood experiences shape our social and emotional frameworks, and she views therapy as an opportunity for individuals and families to restructure life’s stressors into sources of strength. For Heather, the therapeutic space is where communication and connection can flourish, enabling people to overcome challenges and regain control over their lives.

Her professional approach is deeply informed by her personal passions, including her travels, which have exposed her to a variety of cultures, faiths, and value systems. These experiences have shaped Heather’s holistic perspective, allowing her to consider the whole person and family system—encompassing education, environment, health, and social beliefs—in the healing process.

Heather practices from a trauma-informed lens and integrates a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness, and strengths-based approaches. Her goal is to help clients reach their goals, improve their quality of life, and develop the tools needed for long-term success. Known for her warmth and empathy, Heather often brings humor into the therapeutic process when appropriate, creating a space that feels both safe and approachable.
